Bathroom Exhaust Fans and Kitchen Exhaust Fans

Exhaust fans (also called ventilation fans) are indoor fixtures that are used to vent odours, smoke and humidity away from the room. They are often located in toilets, bathrooms and kitchens and are quite easy to install.

Tips on bathroom and kitchen exhaust fans:

  • Exhaust fans are the perfect solution to reduce humidity and hence mould.
  • You should install your exhaust fan to vent air outside of your home through the duct-work and never into your attic.
  • Ensure the exhaust fan joints are well sealed, otherwise the fan will not vent the air away properly.
  • Use smooth duct-work to optimize the venting of the air.
  • Limit the length and bends of the duct-work as much as possible.
  • Use insulated duct-work to prevent condensation on the duct.

Types of bathroom exhaust fans and exhaust fans with light and heating:

  • Bathroom exhaust fan only: Suitable for more tropical environments where a heat lamp is not required, and the bathroom is already sufficiently lit. These can also be used in kitchens.
  • 2-in-1 Bathroom exhaust fan and light: Suitable for situations which require additional bathroom light and steam reduction but do not require additional heat.
  • 3-in-1 Bathroom exhaust fan, light and heat: Bathroom exhaust fans with light are suitable for bathrooms that require heating as well as steam reduction and another bathroom light.
